The Memory Care Volunteer provides compassionate support to residents living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Volunteers help create a safe, engaging, and comforting environment by assisting with activities, offering companionship, and supporting staff in daily routines. Key Responsibilities: - Engage residents in memory-friendly activities such as music therapy, sensory stimulation, storytelling, and simple games. - Offer companionship through conversation, reading aloud, or quiet presence. - Assist with group programs designed to promote cognitive engagement and emotional well-being. - Help staff with non-clinical tasks such as setting up activity spaces or escorting residents. - Foster a calm, respectful, and reassuring atmosphere tailored to the needs of memory care residents. Qualifications: - Kind, patient, and empathetic nature. - Understanding of dementia or willingness to learn through provided training. - Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with staff. - Strong communication and listening skills. - No prior experience required—training and guidance will be provided. Time Commitment: - Flexible scheduling available; volunteers may choose regular weekly shifts or occasional participation based on availability.
